Sunday I woke up determined to find a beach and thats just what I did! After about an hour tram ride from my campus Julie and I arrived at St. Kilda beach. It was such a cute beach town and I am absolutely in love with it. There are lots of beach front restaurants and shops that we window shopped through. The beach and pier are beautiful as well. It will definitely be our go to stop when the weather gets nicer, which luckily should be right around the corner! After freezing my buns off in high 40s to 60 degree weather I am ready to experience the Australian summer heat. This week has been in the low to mid 70's and it feels oh so magical. Monday I got to go on my first hiking adventure to Mt. Dandenong which is about 1 hour from uni. It was amazing to see the city of Melbourne from such a high vantage point but boy did it look a lot smaller from on top of a mountain. We also did a trail called the 1000 steps and let my sore little calf muscles assure you I did every dang step! Technically 2000 steps because we did have to go back down the mountain but that was a much more enjoyable journey for my chicken legs. Overall it was a lot of fun and I have a fun weekend coming after a long boring week of class! Tonight a popular DJ will be at our go to bar, and tomorrow is a tropical booze cruise on the Yarra River (runs through the city) with a group of friends!
Although I did have a great week and will have a great weekend I do ask if you read this to say a prayer for my friend Brendan who was involved in a bad accident last Saturday night and is now paralyzed for the rest of his life and needs all the prayers he can get.
Miss you all!
